LETTER FROM THE EDITOR December 3, 2000		Sequential Ellison - Version 2.0 Welcome to the first complete overhaul this site has had since it started back in the fall of 1998. There is some new items listed in the bibliography, a few new bits of news and gossip, new images in some old gallery items, and a couple of new pieces of usability. Now, you may ask why I would bother doing a complete overhaul of the site. Certainly the site was usable and had a certain level of popularity in it's first form. Well, sites and design needs to change as people grow. In it's first form Sequential Ellison was a simple text document that I would awkwardly upload onto various Usenet discussion groups. After a few years of that it became a text document that several gracious webmasters gave a home on their Ellison and Science Fiction related websites. Then, as I went back to design school, I got an itch to turn it into a website of my own and began working that out one summer in Rhode Island. What came out of that design session is the site that has existed for the past two years. And it sat stale for over a year. It took a backseat as I began to work on other sites and worked on finishing my degree. Shortly before graduating I bean work as a web designer at SalesHound.com. I began work there right in the middle of a site redesign and got a great deal of experience in reworking a sites look and feel. The next major project was a usability and information design redesign for the whole site. More experience. Suddenly, this site that I designed back in 1998 was beginning to look extremely ugly to my new aesthetic eyes. So, I decided it was time to whip this site back into shape. I had picked up many of the missing items from the bibliography and had been collecting little bits of info for the past year or so, but hadn't found time to update the site. I decided to hack at the site from the ground up, correct and update the info, and spruce the whole thing up. The New Site So hopefully this new site will be a little bit cleaner and easier to use. I've cleaned up a lot of the graphics in the hopes that it will load a little faster and be easier to find the information you want. I've added a search function which I hope will help you find specific artists or stories quickly. I've added sort functions in two of the sections so that you can see the information organized by Short Story or Book. And I've chopped a few of the pages up so that the information is better compartmentalized and easier to load. Hopefully now any changes or corrections that I receive will be easier to update and add. The site will continue to grow. I intend to keep tweaking it to make it as quick and easy as I can. And who knows. Maybe in another year I'll get the itch to do this all over again. Feedback I definitely want feedback. Do you hate this site? Is it unusable? Do you hate me?
